Tripaldi was big, bigger than any place Dweezel had ever seen. Even before he'd crashed on that forsaken coastline he'd never been anywhere like this. The sky teemed with dragons of all colors, even some he'd never known they'd come in. Firelizards darted this way and that, catching snippets of meat from carcasses and carrying messages. Hannah too was gawking as they were led to the candidate barracks. "Where is Hannah to stay?" Dweezel asked once he was shown his dorm. "She'll have to stay in guest quarters on the other side of the weyr." K'ral explained. "A drudge should come for her later." The bluerider left to continue his searching after he'd taken them to the Sands.
Hannah wasn't allowed near the eggs, and the green-blue mother watched even the candidates with a wary eye as they lingered around the huge cream-colored orbs. Sensing the dam's unease, Dweezel kept his distance. He didn't want to get into trouble his first day as an official candidate. All the eggs looked the same to him, large, oblong shapes protruding from the hot sand at all angles and swirled with faint shades of different colors. Some a little bigger, possibly browns, and some very small, definitely either a small green or a rare. Few of the other candidates approached him and Dweezel knew it to be because of how closed-off he acted.
Anti-social behavior was all he knew, protecting himself from people who he knew would eventually hurt him in some way. Most of them had their own firelizards sqwawking from their shoulders or flapping annoyingly overhead. "Flying vermin.." he thought disdainfully. Having had enough of these people and their pets, Dweezel made his way over to Hannah. "What is that?" he asked, pointing at the small bronze firelizard on her arm. "You wouldn't believe it! I found person selling firelizard eggs and bought a couple. This is Oeldu." Smiling, Hannah held out the bronze who chirped amiably at Dweezel. "Er, hi Oeldu." he managed. "I bought one for you." She thrust a small rocking egg into his hands along with some meat. "Feed it quick or it'll fly away." "Shells..."
A small green claw punched through the shell, followed by another and then the small head. It crealed almost angrily at Dweezel and wriggled the rest of the way out of her egg. Promptly, Dweezel shoved the meat in the creatures face and it ate voraciously. A sudden flurry of emotions filled Dweezels mind; hunger most prominent. "You Impressed!" Hannah said happily. "What are you naming her?" Sighing, Dweezel watched the little green snap at Oeldu but gaze lovingly up at him. "I dunno.....Ord I guess." Oeldu had taken flight and landed on Hannah's shoulder farthest away from Ord. "I'm hungry, I think they're probably serving lunch in the main hall, want to join me?" "Sure." Dweezel cast one last glance at the Sands then followed Hannah across the weyrbowl, Ord growling the whole way.
