Ninth Official Flight of Draco's Inferno Weyr

Green Caligoth and Blended Blue-Green Finomkodoth and Blue Jericonialituianith
Written by Weyrwoman Kayla
Ch'ron watched with barely suppressed amusement as Caligoth vehemently battled against the wooing of her five suitors. Leave me, you foul beasts! You'll not impress me with your posturing and sweet-talk! she snapped, lashing out with tooth and talon at the males. They backed off, if only to preserve their hides until the very proddy green rose. Snarling at them, Caligoth left the weyrlake to stand beside her man. "Having fun, Cali'?" Ch'ron smirked, unaffected by his bondmates emotions. "Thank the First Shard I re-Impressed her... I'd be out of my head right now if not." he thought to himself. Caligoth growled again, eyes whirling violent reds and golds.
"Any of them worth you, love?" he asked, surveying the mostly blue suitors. Blue Bostonoth was a fine beast, though bonded to a man. Thankfully, Y'lan had chosen not to participate. The Ryslenese blue Reyth was quite sensitive to Caligoth's wishes, doting as if the pair were already mated. The only male that was not a solid blue was blended blue-green Finomkodoth. He and another blue named Aradath had arrived together and were unbonded. Caligoth eyed this pair constantly, as if unable to decide between one or the other. Last to sign up was a blue of DIW blood, and the first abandoned of it. Blue Jericonialituianith had never seemed overly interested in the glowing green, it seemed he had an ulterior motive in chasing.
None of them are worthy of me, but since they are the only ones trying, we'll see who can keep up! She snarled again and leapt into the feeding pens, landing squarely upon a buck, whose back broke with an audible crack. No one had to tell Caligoth to blood, her teeth latched onto the dying animal's neck to leech the warm life-blood from it. Before she was even finished with the first, a swipe of her tail killed a second, then a third... Before long, the green seemed no longer green anymore, but pointed on muzzle and forepaws a bloody red. Caligoth lifted her head and bellowed, showing rows of blood-stained fangs still lusting for more.
It took three more wherries to slake the green's hunger for blood, and she leapt for the heavens with nothing more than a whip of her tail. The males were hot on her heels afterward, Reyth and Aradath taking a quick lead, followed closely by Bostonoth. Finomkodoth trailed just behind him, leaving the uninterested Jeri' to flap idly along after. First to make a grab for the glowing green as she looped and zagged across the skies was Reyth. He lunged for Caligoth as she slowed, but overshot as she made a sudden dive for the earth. He howled in rage and made a wide turn to slow his forward ascent, but it was too late, the prize was lost to him.
Finomkodoth was catching up on Bostonoth, his smaller size giving him more speed. The blue-green sped by in a similarly colored blur, very nearly colliding with the larger blue. Bostonoth shrieked and swerved away, only to nearly plow into a large tree of the forest they'd begun to fly over. A wingtip caught the very center of a thick limb, which spun the blue around and caused an embarrasing tumble through the branches to the ground. Bostonoth landed, uninjured except for a few scratches and sore muscles, and his wounded pride.
Caligoth made a bugling noise above, one that sounded eerily like laughter. Two down, three to go! So much for spry little blues! Only Aradath, Finomkodoth and Jeri' were left, the latter of which most were sure wouldn't win. He seemed apathetic to the whole thing. Finomkodoth was still going strong, though his blue friend wasn't so lucky. Aradath finally had to drop out from exhaustion and a wrenched shoulder muscle. That left Finomkodoth and Jeri'. The blended blue-green was sure he had won! Jeri' merely trailed behind, half-heartedly attempting to keep up. Finom' pumped his tiring wings with less power, drawing on stored reserves to catch up to the slowing green.
He reached out with a paw and grabbed her tail, quickly able to pull himself level with her. With a shriek, Caligoth began to struggle against her captor, slashing his chest with her talons. Come now, Cali'... you've been caught! he soothed, gently twining his neck and tail with hers, angling them so they slowly spiraled back to the weyr. Caligoth submitted, but none to meekly. I may be caught, but I don't have to like it! she snarled.
As the pair slowly drifted toward Draco's Inferno, they didn't notice that they were weaving back and forth across the sky. Another never noticed this as well, and all three met in an unexpected collision. Jeri' had been making his own, solitary way back to the weyr and happened across the flight path of Cali' and Finom'. The three crashed, knocking Finomkodoth away and tangling Caligoth and Jericonialituianith. The blue was bewildered, but kept his senses enough to twine with the green and take advantage of her own bewilderment. Well, whadaya know... something good did come of this. he mused to Caligoth as the watched the winded Finom' make his way back to the ground. Something good indeed...
