+ DawnSisters Weyr + Tiynarea Weyr + Raku Seahold + Draco's Inferno Weyr +

It had been almost one full turn since the old weyr had collapsed and they had moved to the new one, now called Draco's Inferno. Only ten people had died in the collapse, "But it was ten too many." Weyrleader J'son had said. He and Kayla had renamed the weyr, to try and help those who lost forget. It was a Gather day, with representatives from all the major weyrs; Dawn Sisters, Tripaldi, Falas, Tiynarea, and many more. Truatt strolled leisurely between the stalls, stopping at those who interested him.

He came upon Tiynarea's Firelizard stall. "Want an egg?" the man asked gruffly as he approached. He eyed the wher eggs in the Falas stall, the death of Zela still haunted him. "How much?" he asked absently. "Free." the man grunted. "Free?" Truatt was caught off guard. Firelizards usually cost a mark or two. "Yep...s'only a green's clutch." he pushed the bucket full of warm sand and firelizard eggs towards Truatt as one began to rock. "Better hurry." The man turned to collect some meat an a registration form as Truatt gingerly scooped up the tiny egg. He turned, setting a small bowl of meat on the counter.

An emerald claw punched through the shell, then another. They pushed the two halves of the egg apart, and the tiny green creeled to be fed. Truatt quickly gave it small gobets of meat. "Name?" the man asked. "Zela." Truatt answered, thinking back to the poor wher he'd tried to save. He filled out the rest of the form himself and carried Zela away, not wanting to be in all this heat and noise anymore.

With a sigh, he wished Klaera was still there, but a few sevendays ago she'd been Searched for a clutch on the Dawn Sisters sands. Ever since, he'd been trying to find a way there, to no avail. There had been no news of her Impressing a dragon. He plodded back to his room and settled on the bed with the slumbering green. Lying back, he set Zela on his stomach and stretched out. Soon he too was sound asleep.

One Sevenday Later....

"What?" Truatt asked. Zela chirped and looked expectantly back up at him. "Unless you show me what you want, I can't help you." The green had grown considerably in one, seemingly short, sevenday. She'd been acting as though she wanted something but refused to show him an image. With a sigh, he gave up trying to decipher her cryptic squeaks, chirps and croons in favor of going down to see Macy. She'd told him the day before that a letter had arrived for him, but the weyr's only messenger firelizard was too busy to bring it too him.

"Hello?" he called upon entering. "Come in Truatt." Macy was busy removing a letter from the white firelizard's foreleg and replacing it with another. It leapt a few feet into the air and winked between. "Your letter is over there." she gestured with a nod towards a small roll of hide. Truatt picked it up and said, "Thanks....do you want Zela to help you?" He worried for her because she looked so worn. With a smile, Macy replied, "Thank you, Truatt, but Kopaka and I are fine." "Ok but that's a standing offer." Truatt nodded and left, unrolling the scroll. "Klaera!" he exclaimed, drawing the attention of two passing drudges. He ran back to his room and read the letter.

"Dearest Truatt,

I'm sorry I haven't written more often, I've been terribly busy. I have wonderful news for you, however. I've Impressed!"

Truatt gasped happily. "So she got her dragon." he murmured. Eagerly he read on.

"I've enclosed a picture I asked a fellow candidate to sketch of my beloved Tiyranelth."

A second scroll had dropped from the letter and was in his lap. He opened it and saw a picture of a prim green hatchling, baring her teeth in a draconic smile. Next to her there was a larger blue, his small wings spread in a defiant pose. "Whose blue?" he wondered, and turned back to the letter.

"The other dragonet is Frosth. He was Impressed by another from our weyr, a drudge called Avanon, or A'non now. And don't get jealous, he's only fourteen."

Truatt sighed, she knew him so well. He decided to save the rest of the letter for later when the bugle of the watchdragon signaled a visitor. Zela roused from her sleep, she'd been lying on his pillow. She squawked in surprise a Truatt hurriedly plucked her from her spot and set her on his shoulder. He practically tumbled down the stairs and into the weyrbowl. A large blue had landed, and his rider was speaking to the weyrwoman. Truatt joined a crowd of gathered weyrfolk and asked one what was going on. "Searchrider from Dawn Sisters." the boy replied. Weyrwoman Kayla turned to the group of people, and they quieted. "W'ryn and Sylth will be Searching for candidates later today. Everyone who wishes to be considered, please return before supper." With that, she led the bluerider to their Hatching Sands, presumably to boast about the clutch just lain there. Truatt chuckled. "Good luck, W'ryn. Once Kayla and Certa get a hold of you, they'll talk your ear off about that Junior Queen's clutch."

Truatt turned and headed back to his room to finish Klaera's letter. He glanced at the weyrbadge in the corner and he froze. "Dawn Sisters! That's where Klaera is!" Truatt practically leapt off the bed, again startling Zela out of her sleep. She chirped irritably and re-settled on his shoulder. He ran back into the weyrbowl and searched the rim for his father's blue Starveth. "Starveth!" he called mentally.

Yes? the blue answered calmly.

"Where is my father?"he asked.

He is speaking to the weyrleader in the council room.

"Thanks." Truatt bowed hastily and ran up to the council room. He stopped just outside the door and listened to his father's voice. "I think he is definitely old enough to go Impress. And Dawn Sisters produces fine, strong dragons. We certainly still ne.." J'son broke in, laughing. "You've convinced me V'mere! The boy can be Searched, I have no problems with that..Now, onto what..." J'son paused and looked towards the door. "Truatt? Come on in, no need to eavesdrop." Truatt stepped into the room, his faced flushed with embarrassment. "Eager to go see Klaera again?" This stunned Truatt. "Wh-what?" he stammered. "I asked if you want to see Klaera, you have feelings for my daughter, correct?"

J'son tilted his head to one side, questioningly, while a grin spread across Truatt's father's face. "W...I...." He was at a loss. "You could tell?" J'son smiled again. "I couldn't but Kadith could." "Are you.....against my, affection for her?" "No, not at all! I think you'd make a fine husband for my daughter. Now, go down to the weyrbowl, Sylth will be Searching soon!" Truatt smiled wider than he ever had and bolted to his room for some nice clothes.

The blue slowly made his way along the line of potential candidates. There were only five who had been allowed, and so far Sylth hadn't alerted on the three he'd examined."I'm next." Truatt thought nervously. Zela crooned encouragingly and nuzzled his cheek. He swallowed and steeled himself as the searchdragon stopped in front of him. The great beasts eye spun calming mixes of blue and green, Truatt felt himself drawn into them.

You would make a fine candidate, what is your name?

Sylth's soothing mind-voice broke into Truatt's trance. "Uh, T-Truatt." he whispered hoarsely. Sylth turned to his rider and bugled. Weyrwoman Kayla approached him as the blue moved on. "It seems you've been Searched, Truatt. Much to your relief, it would seem." She winked and grinned knowingly at him, the same way J'son had. "Does everyone know of Klaera and I?" he asked increduously. "Only a few." she said and leaned in closely. "I'd say for for it. Follow your heart." she whispered and went to make the arrangements. Truatt stared blankly ahead, a feeling of elation spreading through his chest. W'ryn stepped up to him. "You're the only probable one in this lot." he said. "It must be fate you're here." He smiled and led him to Sylth. "We'll be leaving now." The blue offered his foreleg and boosted Truatt up into the flying saddle. Truatt instructed Zela to coil tightly around his next as Sylth leapt into the air and winked between to Dawn Sisters.

Before Dawnsisters, At Raku Seahold

"We need to stop by Raku before we head back to Dawnsisters!" W'ryn shouted over the wind as they flew. "Why?" Truatt shouted back. "Because Sylth says he picks up a possible choice coming from there." "But..." Truatt started, only it was too late, Sylth was landing as they spoke. "It'll only take a moment. Why don't you look around, I'll come find you when we're about to leave." With that W'ryn and Sylth took back off." "Humph..." Truatt said, and started off towards the sound of waves.

He came across a small room with the soprano humming of firelizards coming from it. A woman noticed him, and Zela who was on his shoulder. "Want another one?" She asked. Truatt looked at a single rocking egg in a pile of sand. "I don't know, I'm supposed to be going to Dawnsisters to Impress." "Then you better make sure you really don't want one, because once you do Impress a dragon, you can't Impress anymore firelizards until it's full grown." Zela looked at him and chirped as if she understood what he had said. She gave Truatt a pleading look, as if she wanted another firelizard for company. "Aw, don't give me that look...." His gaze shifted to the egg, which was rocking even more violently. He sighed and said. "Ok, I'll take it. " The woman smiled and handed him the rocking egg as she set about doing something else.

A hairline crack formed as Zela shuffled down to his hand to watch the egg hatch. Nothing more happened, except for the rocking of the egg. A plaintive creel came from within the egg. "It's having trouble hatching." He called to the woman, but she was nowhere to be found. Fretting over what to do, it was decided when Zela stepped forward, her maternal instincts taking over. She pushed her tiny claws into the crack and pulled the egg apart easily. A tiny blue sat in the center of Truatt's palm and he looked around for some meat. Still the woman had not come back. Finally, he found a clean piece of hide and some ink. He wrote the hatchling's name, Aroro, on it, and his color.

W'ryn called for him and he ran out to meet him and his dragon. All the way he kept his hands clamped together to prevent the hatchling from flying off. "Do you have any food?" he asked W'ryn urgently. The man produced a strip of dried wherry meat from his pocket and handed it to Truatt. "Why do you need it?" He asked. Truatt carefully opened his hands and fed the meat to Aroro. The blue gobbled it all, and Truatt Impressed. "Oh, well never mind then. We must be heading on." Truatt took time to look around and saw no others coming with them. As he was lifted onto Sylth's back, he asked W'ryn,"What happened to your potential candidate?" "She'd already been claimed for another weyr." W'ryn shouted as they took off. Truatt put Aroro in his jacket to guard him against the cold of between.
