"Yeeeeeeeehhhhaaaaaa!!!!" K'mon shouted as Nanvooth swooped close to the ground. Aelis clung for dear life to the flying straps, silently enjoying it as much as her older brother. Nanvooth dove a little too close to a passing brown and was rewarded with a smart thump on the head, delivered by the browns tail. He bugled indignantly and began a landing spiral. "Are you okay Nanvooth?" Aelis asked worriedly. "He's alright, the brown was only playing anyway." K'mon laughed. Nanvooth rumbled with the dragon equivalent of a chuckle and backwinged to a landing. Aelis slid off and thanked Nanvooth for the ride. He dipped his head and she scratched his eyeridges before returning inside.

Have you told her yet?

"No 'Vooth, but I will.

You need to do it soon.

K'mon clambered back onto Nanvooth's back and they leapt up to their weyr.

"Aelis! Where have you been? There's going to be a feast in an hour and you disappear again!" The Headwoman, Anala chided upon seeing Aelis enter. "I was with my brother, we went flying." Aelis responded quietly, gazing up at the rafters of the room. Already the walls were beginning to close in on her. Fighting to keep her breathing normal, she silently called out to Rynn, her purple firelizard. The little creature popped out of between over her head and landed on her shoulder, nuzzling Aelis's cheek protectively.

"Yes well, that still gives you no right to go off when you need to be here working." she said sternly. "You're needed in the kitchens." With that Anala went off on some other task, ever the busy Headwoman. Aelis glared after her, debating on even helping after that. She dutifully headed towards the kitchen, struggling with her mind that kept imagining the walls inching closer and closer. Rynn helped as best as she could. Finally, she just couldn't take it and had to make her way outside as quickly and inconspicuously as possible.

Once outside she found a place far from other people and sat on the ground against the wall of the weyr, panting. Her distress brought Oort, her brown firelizard to her side, crooning anxiously. "I'll be alright." she reassured both him and Rynn. With a weary sigh she rose and scanned the edges of the Rim for the familiar shape of Nanvooth. Chuckling softly, she remembered back to when Nanvooth arrived from Tiynarea, a scant four months. He'd become her dragon almost as much as K'mon's.

A blue shape bugled softly and leapt from a ledge off to her right, gliding towards her. "Looking for someone?" K'mon asked from Nanvooth's back. "Anala still tries to keep me in that confining kitchen....she doesn't realize how hard it is for me!" Aelis protested as K'mon dropped to the ground. "You told her about your fear of enclosed spaces right?" he asked. "Of course! I thought everyone would know by now, after what happened last week." "I remember.." K'mon sighed.

Aelis had been sent by a weyrbrat to go get someone or something from the stables; she didn't remember what. Upon entering, she searched the stalls and was attacked by a group of other weyrbrats. They had locked her in a closet and left her there. K'mon had rescued her upon having both Rynn and Oort attack him and Nanvooth. "Come on, we'll go upstairs. If Anala comes after you I'll just say you're helping me." K'mon smiled and helped her up onto Nanvooth's back.

Just as Nanvooth was about to take off a green dragon burst from between and Nanvooth heard her identify herself as a Searchrider.

K'mon! Aelis could present herself for search, that one is Cathair bred.

Okay, follow the green and I'll talk to Aelis. Nanvooth rumbled happily and took off, following the green to where she had landed neard the Feeding Grounds. "Aelis, have you ever wanted a dragon of your own?" K'mon looked down at her. "Of course! I knew from the moment that you brought Nanvooth home I wanted to Impress...what brought this on?" "Nanvooth said that that green was a Searchrider, and he and I have noticed that you could make an exceptionally good candidate." Aelis gaped up at him. "Well he is a searchdragon!" The blue bugled a welcome to the green as he landed and the two conversed as K'mon and Aelis dismounted. The green's rider and K'mon spoke as well and Aelis got the impression of other people coming as well, but she was more intrested in the green that had come. She was different from the dragons here, and Aelis recognized a Cathair as being on a planet called Danach. She had two long horns near the back of her head and ears that were vaguely reminiscent of a runners.

K'mon broke her concentration by placing a hand on her shoulder. "You get to go, kid!" he said, smiling widely. "T..to her Cathair?" she stuttered. "But it's on a whole other planet!" Aelis looked up at him, suddenly scared. K'mon smiled and said, "Don't worry, you'll be fine...I'm coming along since I don't have to do anymore Searching." There came a sudden flurry of movement; packing, kisses from her mother, shuffling of her onto Nanvooth's back. All through which she seemed to float. The sharp cold of between is what brought her back and she clutched fearfully to K'mon's arm.

At Cathair Utopian...

"This place is very....odd" Aelis thought after exploring the Cathair. Rynn chirped from her shoulder, sniffing about like there was something unusual. Oort was no where to be found and Aelis hoped he hadn't gotten lost on the trip between. The little purple flit abruptly leapt from Aelis's shoulder and took off down the hall with Aelis not far behind. "Rynn, come back!" Aelis called after her. After a few moments searching, Rynn was found trying to frantically claw her way into a room. "What is it girl?" Aelis asked. She looked around the door and spied a sign that read "Abandoned". "Abandoned dragons...." she breathed and gently pushed the door open.

The room was dark and the profound sense of lonelyness and aching nearly bowled Aelis over. It was exactly how K'mon had felt when he'd entered the abandonded sands at Tiynarea. Suddenly a light from Aelis's right startled her and Rynn flapped frantically near the rafters until a voice said, "Calm down girl!" Aelis narrowed her eyes against the brightness and saw a woman with a candle. She stepped closer, "Who is it?" "I'm the one who watches the abandoned....have you come to Impress?" Aelis looked at the stalls and whispered, "Are there any?" "Just one.." the woman said, pointing at a dark den at the other end of the room. Aelis cautiously approached and read the sign outside. " Persikath." she murmured and stepped inside....
