Kaymon sighed heavily and continued to brush the runner's coarse fur. It looked back at him and shook it's head. "Does that hurt Mysty?" The mare neighed and went back to eating hay. He brushed a little softer. "There, all done." Wiping his brow, Kaymon stepped back and admired Mysty's shiny fur. Taking her lead, he put her back in her stall as Port, his shabby canine, padded into the stable and looked up, whining for attention. Kneeling down, he petted the canines head and asked, "What is it boy?" Port licked his fingers and turned to the watering bucket Kaymon always left for him, slurping water. Kaymon stood and opened the door of his runners stall and lead the quiet gelding out.

"Your turn Sandstorm." He began to brush the runner while it munched on some oats he had lain out for it. Port wandered back outside and sniffed around for something to do. Kaymon finished his runner quickly, since it hadn't been in as bad a shape as Mysty had. "Now, let me clean out your stall and I'll be done for the day." As he set about that task, Port let out a startled yelp and rand back into the stable, tail between his legs. Kaymon stepped outside to see what had scared his usually fearless canine so. It was a large bronze that had landed in the Feeding Grounds. His rider and Heranel, the Masterbeastcrafter and his mother were talking.

"I must've been Searched again. Well I'm going this time! I'm too old for my mother to stop me." Quickly he mounted Sandstorm and rode it out to where they were talking. Just as he stopped, he heard his mother say, "No, I will not let him go!" "Yes, I am going this time mother!" Kaymon walked up to the group. "I'm not young anymore, I can decide for myself if I get to go Impress or not!" His mother, Karon looked at him angrily. "I am your mother and you cannot go without my permission!" The bronzerider stepped between them, holding out his hands. "Now wait just a minute, let me talk to him." He turned to Kaymon and held out his hand. "I am H'ilan, Head Searchrider from Tiynarea, and you indeed have been Searched for a clutch out there. How old are you?"

Kaymon looked at the man, just as tall as he was, so they were eye-to-eye. "I am twenty-one turns old." H'ilan turned to Kaymon's mother and said, "I'm sorry, but he is old enough not to need permission from a guardian." Karon huffed, "I don't approve of you going Kaymon, and you know that! Ride off with this Searchrider and you are never welcome in my home again!" "I'm going mother, and you can't stop it! I should have Impressed long ago, and I would have if you hadn't have been holding me back!" He turned to the bronzerider. "I'm coming with you." With that, H'ilan hoisted him up onto the bronzes massive neck and pulled himself up afterwards. "I'll only come back to collect my things and animals!" Kaymon called as the bronze launched into the air and disappeared between.

At Tiynarea

"This place is huge.." Kaymon was wondering the halls of Tiynarea while H'ilan signed him up for the clutch. He came across an old wooden door with a plaque hung overhead. Kaymon leaned close to read what it said, "Abandoned Sands".

"Tragic, isn't it?" Kaymon jumped at the voice behind him. Whirling, he saw it was H'ilan. "What's tragic?" "In there are dragons who have either lost, or have been abandoned by their riders. They go there hoping to find someone who will re-Impress them." Kaymon turned, and thought back to long ago, when he was just 5 turns old. His father's blue dragon Corinth had been killed in a Threadfight. He still remember how empty his fathers face had been, how hollow his voice. His father had killed himself not to long after his dragon had went. "I want to Impress one of those." Kaymon said softly. He pushed through the door and was assailed by the sad, lonely, anguished thoughts of the abandoned dragons. "Are you sure? The bond will never be as strong as First Impression and.." "Yes! I want to try..." He stood before the dragons, three blues and one green. "Please, let me help one of you" He thought. They all looked at him, their hides grey-tinged......
