Kertakth was like some kind particularly persistent dry spot. One that, no matter how many times you oiled it and scratched it, it always came back. Musei' actually didn't mind her so much when they were alone, just when they were in a more populated area and Kertak' went into one of her "hyperactive modes", running around, screeching like a banshee and causing general havoc and mayhem. If they happened to get separated, Musei' never had trouble finding her. All she had to do was follow the trail of destruction.
All in all, however, the odd little bronze made a very good friend. She listened when Musei' needed her to, spoke when Musei' needed her to and said just the right things. This was perhaps why she allowed herself to be talked into visiting Kertak's home. Aw, c'mon! You'll have fun! Star City is a very interesting place, especially for someone who has never really left their home weyr. the bipedal bronze said, tilting her head to one side in mock puppy-faced pleading. Pleeeaaase? Nodo' on Kertak's shoulder seemed interested enough, nodding his head vigorously.
The larger bronze whuffed resignedly. I suppose you won't leave me alone about it until I say yes, right?
Nope!
Musei' sighed, I figured as much... alright Kertakth. I'll go with you to this Star City place. Why is it you're so eager to return yourself? The smaller bronze gaped her mouth in a toothy draconic grin and held out a small coin-like object in her forepaw. I'm going to redeem my cyborware token! You can help me decide what to get! Musei' rose and spread her enormous wings, following Kertakth into the air. Oh joy, dare I ask whay "cyborware" is? A feeling of mirth came from the other bronze as she gave Museitetsujinth the image she needed to go between. You'll see!
Indeed, Star City was an experience from one who came from such a seemingly low-tech weyr. Everything was cold metal and glass, electric lights hummed day and night, and the place was brimming with people and dragons of every shape, size, color and species. Musei' had been slightly overwhelmed the first day, especially upon seeing some of the xenomorphs that currently inhabited the hatching bays. They gave her chills just looking at them. C'mon, the cyborware installer is just around the corner! Kertakth said, appearing to finally be in her element of bustling people. Musei' followed, her eyes drifting everywhere but where she was going. The fact that she was much larger than most of the dragons and people there was probably why she didn't run into anyone.
Once at the installers, Musei' found she couldn't enter the store, but Kertak' ran back and forth, showing her examples from books and on computer screens. They finally settled on one particular design, (well, Kertak' did, Musei' mostly nodded and "mm-hmm"ed as she watched the crowds flow by) three rainbow-colored lumi-pads on either side of the base of her tail, each in a perfectly circular shape and grown steadily smaller in their row. Once the process was complete, Kertak' bounced out of the store, waggling her tail to flaunt the shimmering circles. Be careful Kertak', some wayward male may take that in the wrong context. Musei' teased as the pair wandered past the hatching bays.
Ooooh! Kertak' stopped abruptly in front of the bays, watching the many dragon-mothers tending their young. THAT'S what you should do while you're here! Sign up to bond! she squealed, rushing up to the "Clutch Information" sign posted right next to the entrance. Uh, I don't know Kertak'... I'm not sure I'm even ready to bond yet... Musei' replied hesitantly, still eying a menacing-looking xenomorph queen and HathHydra that seemed to have reproduced together. She shuddered to think what those offspring would be like...
But Kertak' could not be deterred, she practically squirmed in delight as she read the listing. Look Musei', a clutch sired by an AVENGAEAN dragon! And the dam is a feather-wing! Those babies will be pretty! Don't you want one? The bronze sighed. Why don't you sign up for the clutch, if you think they're so pretty... Kertak' made a tchhk sound with her tongue. You know I'm never gonna want to bond anything, but you do! I know you do! I'm going to sign you up right now! and with that, the bipedal bronze skittered off. No, wait Kertakth!
She couldn't follow for fear of accidentally running over someone, the corridors sometimes seemed barely big enough to fit her. So she stayed resignedly in front of the hatching bays and balefully watching the featherwinged purple dragon tend her clutch, one of the smaller ones there. Kertakth eventually returned, beaming and holding a paper in her hand. There! Here's our quarters for the time being, I'll stay with you until it hatches! Again, Musei' sighed. Very well... but when this is over, I'm going to sign YOU up for the first clutch that catches my fancy! she snapped, thundering off in the direction of their lodgings.
