"More wine! Come now, we've finally rid ourselves of that wretched class, let's celebrate!" T'san swayed where he stood and was quickly caught by two fellow blueriders. "Sing with me!" he slurred, taking another swig off of the wineskin and beginning his favorite drunken harper song, the others singing along after a few moments to remember the words through alcohol-sodden brains.

Surely one such as lovely as you would...aack! Kith positively yelped as a snarling (and proddy) green took a swipe at him with her fore-claws, managing to knock him soundly about the head with her tail before he could wing to an escape. Glancing up, the blue spied a familiar brown and hurriedly leapt for his ledge, his rider's brother jumping aside before deciding to leave the two alone. Well, if you would have just told me to stop! he bugled. Beside him, Hursth rumbled in a way that soothed his brother. Sighing, Kith spoke. Soooo, where are you going to chase? He'd brought the subject up quite abruptly, so the surprised look on Hursth's face was warranted. The brown blinked before pulling back and shifting his gaze to the stars thoughtfully. I had not thought of chasing, brother. Where are you going? Kith, who had had been glaring down at the females and not particularly listening, responded in an offhand way. Oh, I don't know. T'san is really keen on me joining the same flight you do, so we could win and he could torture S'van some. He gestured idly. I've not seen any female I'd like to chase yet, though.

Suddenly, Kith sensed a large amount of anger and hatred from his rider directed at someone else. T'san was a fun but mean drunk, and no doubt he'd picked a fight with someone downstairs. But this is not hatred without reason, this is toward someone we know.... He could hear T'san's side of the fight.

"You look so haughty, up there on your precious brown!...........If you'd fly with Kith and I, we'd really show you up! But since weyrling training, you've been on this indifferent 'I'll ignore him and he'll shut up' kick!..........Oh, don't you talk about Kith that way! He's the best friend and brother I've ever had, you were always doing everything better than me, and right behind my bloody back!!"

Hursth's voice broke into Kith's eavesdropping. I think I would like to chase somewhere...different from you. We have been together since birth, and that seems to cause our riders trouble. Do you not agree? A little distracted by T'san's intense anger, Kith replied, I do. I could try to persuade T'san, or you could sign up for a flight I am not eligible for, whichever is more convienient. Goodnight, Hursth. He had been summoned by T'san, and quickly rose up from the ledge and headed for his own. There he found an obviously fuming T'san, all the anger seemed to have counter-acted the wine in his system, for he was muttering quite clearly, "We'll see where he goes, and show that big wherry what a real dragon is. That brown clump of mud will never see us coming." I wish you would not speak of my brother so... the blue said hesitantly, eyes whirling a concerned purple.

Looking up, the man's face relaxed slightly at the sight of his dragon. "Kith, you've never heard such insults as what S'van was hurling at me and you! All because Heckate snapped up half his supper because the big dimglow left it alone!" Kith lay down on is ledge and watched as T'san continued to rant and rave on and on. As he watched Rukbat slowly setting, the blue noticed Hursth leaving the weyrbowl, no doubt to act upon their plan and sign up for a flight he was not eligible for. Good luck, my brother! he called after the brown, but it was too late, the pair had gone between. This reminded him...Rider mine, let's go chase somewhere and forget all this, at least for a little while. Somewhere far from where Hursth and S'van are. Stopping pacing, T'san stepped onto the ledge and leaned against his blue. "Y'know, that might be a good idea. Isn't there some old phrase, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" or something?" Rumbling with joy, Kith began asking around where there were females in need of chasers, or if this female was pretty. By morning he had found his destination.

"Dragonhope Weyr, eh? Well, I'm always up for meeting new people." T'san said as he adjusted the straps on Kith. The blue gave T'san a leg up then, with a powerful sweep of his wings, took to the sky. "And what is this female's name?" His rider asked before they jumped between. Once over Dragonhope, Kith answered. She has the most beautiful name I have heard, Akaneth. Kith backwinged to a landing in the feeding grounds and helped T'san down. "Akaneth, eh? Well, she does look lovely, if that's who you're after." Quickly turing to where his rider was pointing, Kith went slack-jawed at the sight of the shimmering Akaneth. She sunned on a ledge, her deep green hide standing out against the grey stone that surrounded her. While T'san went to sign Kith up for the flight, the enamoured blue made his first attempts to woo the lovely Akaneth...
