Time passed, Canti grew, and Selvaggioth never got the upper hand on her again. A rain mage had been found to assist her in developing her magical abilities, and she caught on quite quickly. Now, whenever the orange acted up around the turquoise, there was always the threat of a sudden rainstorm that turned quickly to sleet and snow due to the cold temperatures. She'd once covered some of the more populated areas of the weyr in ice in a temper tantrum and was severely reprimanded by Cynnath's bond, Kjedoreth.

No one ever really understood the "odd, furry one" out of the first brood of sponsorlings to graduate their own weyrling class. Most of them came from the frenzy at Eriol, following one or both of their parents home, for whatever reason. They themselves formed their own, tight-knit pack and shut all others out for the most part. This left Canti, the infernal Sel', Foldel' from a clutch that hatched at Darkling Dawn along with Sel's, two female bronzes, one from DIW itself and another from a space station in the nexus (how odd), and a lecherous male bronze from Darkling Dawn as well.

The "Outsiders" as Canti began mentally referring to the little group formed their own, albeit "loose" friendship. Except for Selvaggioth, maybe. She was a planet unto herself on most things... Musei' and Kertak' became fast friends once the bipedal bronze arrived, brought the then-weyrling bronze from her bitter depression, escorted her to her home and persuaded her to sign up to bond. Foldel' became the unlikely cohort of Hel', the tail-chasing male bronze.

This left Canti still more or less on her own, holding a simmering grudge against Sel', a small idolization for Musei' and pretty much ignoring the rest. She did feel some longing in her deepest heart for a companion. It was perhaps this unconscious thought that pulled her into an idle wandering of Pern. She walked and flew all over the planet in search of...what? When she finally returned to DIW, Sel' was still there, still grumpy. Canti had a question of her, seeing the orange was still without a bond and thus, not tied down.

"Good morrow, Selvaggioth. What are you doing alone after so long?" the furred dragoness asked the orange slyly. Why, if it isn't little Rubbish-Canti. Back from all your meandering, fuzzy? Too bad something didn't find you appetizing whilst you were away. she snarled in return, baring fangs. Canti murred softly in laughter. She had, oddly, missed their daily banter on her trip around the continent. "Actually, Selvaggioth. I had a favor to ask of you." The orange bugled aloud in laughter. Me? Do you a favor? Why, what have you ever done for me? What's in it for me?

Same old Sel'... Canti thought privately to herself. Even the foreign dragon could see the visible glow to the orange's hide. It was apparent she would rise soon. The turquoise was counting on a proddy female's wanderlust to goad Selvaggioth into taking her offworld. Lvarian dragons are unable to between, go parallel, teleport, any of those types of self-telekinesis and thus Canti needed someone who was able to to take her offworld. The orange growled at her and asked finally, Well, what is it you want? "So kind of you to ask...Well, my dear Selvaggioth, I would like you to escort me offworld, anywhere offworld. I am unable to go between myself. Who knows, you may find someplace to your liking, eh?"

Sel' glowered at her for a moment in thought, red-gold-blue eyes narrowed in thought. That's it, take you anywhere offworld? Anywhere at all? Hmmm...very well. The affirmative response was given so soon that Canti had had her mouth half open to argue back. She blinked in surprise and shut it. "Th-thank you, Sel'. Thank you very much." The orange grunted and cast her gaze to the bloody sunset-splashed sky. I'll only do it if we go, now. RIGHT now. With that, she spread her orange wings and lept smoothly into the sky. Canti quickly followed and positioned herself under Sel'. Where are you taking us? she asked as the orange closed her forepaws around Canti's wingshoulders. With no response and no warning, the orange took them between
