Klaera was riding across the fields on the back of Snowfall, the fastest runner Draco's Inferno Weyr had. The speed made her feel exhilarated...like she was flying as she had so many times on the back of her mothers' golden dragon. She has long golden hair like her mother and dark green eyes like her father. The heardbeasts scattered as she blasted through. Finally, at the top of the hill she pulled hard back on the reins and Snowfall stopped, panting heavily. She slid off the back of the white runner and lead him over to a steadily running creek, where he bent to drink greedily. "I love it up here." she thought, scanning the weyr. With a strong, bold personality, she tends to be the leader of the pack.

She and her best friend, Lelandra were joined at the hip, often riding down to the lake to go swimming. But Lelandra was gone...having been Searched for a clutch at Tiynarea Weyr. "I am so bored!" Klaera had thought that the Searchrider that day had been coming for her....she'd been up in her room preparing for yet another feast for the newly created weyr, when she'd heard the watchdragon's bugle.

Looking out the window and seeing the blue she'd gotten tremendously excited, and when Lelandra had come up to her room, she'd thought that she was coming to tell Klaera that it was for her.....But no, she was coming to say goodbye. "I've been Searched!" she'd declared upon entering the room. Klaera had been jolted by the rude awakening that the Searchrider wasn't there for her, but for Lelandra. She hadn't showed her disappointment though. "That's wonderful!" she said, so proud for her best friend. "I know! Maybe I'll get a gold, like my mother!" Klaera hugged Lelandra tightly. "I'll miss you while you're gone." Lelandra's firelizard, Cinder, had given Klaera a fond nuzzle goodbye and Lelandra was gone...

"I'll Impress somewhere." she told herself. Not that she wasn't glad for Lelandra, far from it. She really was proud, it was her best friend after all! Heaving a heavy sigh, she collected Snowfall and mounted him, heading back towards the weyr. It was getting late and her mother didn't like her staying out late yet, not sure of what creatures lurked in the unexplored forest around the weyr. Staring blankly at the back of Snowfall's neck, she was startled by the sudden dragon roar that came from the watchdragon heights.

A blue dragon had come from between and was circling, apparently waiting to be told it could land. The watchdragon bugled again and the blue flew off and landed in the feeding grounds, near the stables. "Well, I'll just ride down there and put Snowfall up...and mayhap listen in a little bit." The blue dragon's rider had dismounted his dragon and was speaking to her mother and father. Klaera urged Snowfall up to a trot and sped faster towards them so that she could eavesdrop.

A sudden roll of thunder spooked Snowfall and he reared back, kicking furiously at the air with his forelegs. "Whoa boy! Calm down!" Klaera shouted as she desperately clung to the reins. A flash of lighting then spooked the heardbeasts into a stampede, all of them charging in the direction of safety, the stable. All of them heading straight for Klaera and Snowfall, who was still resisting her control. The blue noticed this and lept into the sky.

"Klaera!" her mother shouted, and then called for Kadith, Astaroth following soon after. "They won't make it!" the blue's rider shouted as her dragon swooped down upon the herd, landing next to Klaera and standing between her and the rush of heardbeasts. Finally, Snowfall calmed down and Klaera gained control of him. The stampede was over and Kadith and Astaroth were hovering protectively around Klaera, who had dismounted and sat shakily on the ground. It began to pour rain, so the blue extended a wing out over her, shielding her from the rain. The three people, her mother, father, and the blue's rider, had made it up the hill and Kayla immediately inspected Klaera for injuries. "Oh, are you sure you're not hurt?" she fretted. "I'm find mom, the blue saved me." Klaera turned to the blue dragon, "Thank you so much for protecting me."

It was no problem...

The blue dipped his head then looked to his rider. Her father seemed to remember something and said, "Oh, Klaera, this is Denne, a Searchrider from Dawnsisters. Her blue Rainelth thinks you'd be an excellent candidate for Impression there." Rainelth crooned softly, showing his agreement. "I...I'll go!" Klaera said eagerly. Ever since Rylan then Lelandra, she'd been even more eager to Impress. "But you cannot leave tonight..." her mother said and turns to Denne, "Will you mind if she stays here until the storms over? You can stay too, of course. We'll give you lodging." "Sure, I wasn't planning on flying in this anyway." Denne said. The group shuffled back into the weyr and the next day, Denne and Klaera flew off for Dawnsisters.
