What is wrong Klaera?

Klaera turned to see her mother's golden dragon Kadith landing behind her, soundlessly. "What do you mean?" she asked.

You are not happy....why?

Kadith folded her wings and lay down next to her, the dragons eyes spinning a soft blue-green mix. She sighed. "I'm not sure I like the idea of moving weyrs. I've been here all of my life." Klaera looked around at her familiar surroundings. The well-worn walkways and stairs, bright green fields and rolling hills.

If I understand your mother, then this weyr has grown too small, even for our little amount of dragons. We need more space, the dragons. This weyr is also very old, and crumbling. Some drudges were very nearly killed in a cave-in the other day.

"I know, but why so far away?"

It's the biggest weyr your mother has come across that wasn't fully occupied.

The small hand-hewn caverns that the weyr now existed in had grown cramped, and the new Weyrwoman, Klaera's mother Kayla, had decided that a new weyr needed to be found. She understood this fully, however she still didn't want to move. It was a typical teenage feeling, the change was just coming way too fast. "Half the weyr will split off though! I'll loose almost all my friends."

Lelandra will be staying, she is your best friend, correct?

"Yeah, but......I'll loose the rest! She's the only one that I know who is coming." Kadith looked to the sky, examining the closing darkness. She was a fairly young dragon, having just been considered full grown, and she too had been born at this weyr and was having the same feelings Klaera was. "I just don't know.." Klaera looked out across the Feeding Grounds and saw Truatt. She gasped.

What?

Kadith looked out and saw him as well.

Ah, your long-standing love. You must speak for him to notice, not admire him from afar you know.

Kadith let out a draconic chuckle then looked back to the boy.

He comes...I will leave you alone.

With that the great gold stood and walked away a few steps before taking off into the air. "Hey." Klaera looked up and saw....Truatt. "H-hi." she said softly, blushing. "Do you speak to your mother's dragon like that often?" Klaera stood, a little put off. He had acted as though this was odd. "Yes, I consider her a friend, why do you ask?" "No reason, I just thought dragons liked to talk to their riders exclusively is all." He stepped back and kicked at the dirt. "So.....when we move tomorrow, are you going to go with, or are you being transferred?" "I'm coming. My mother had thought about sending me to another weyr to Impress, but I didn't want to go. I wanted to stay with her and my father." Truatt seemed impressed. "So you got to choose?" She raised an eyebrow. "Yes, should I not have?" Truatt shook his head. "It's not that, I just didn't get to choose." "Oh..." They stood there in an awkward silence until Truatt spoke. "Well, I have to go. My father wanted me home to help pack our things." He walked off quickly, turning to wave. Klaera waved back and sighed. Maybe the move wouldn't be so bad...
